Ingredients
- 4 whole boneless pork chops
- 2 whole apples slices Honeycrisp, Fuji or Gala
- 1 medium onion sliced
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 cup apple cider can use chicken broth
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp salt adjust to taste
- 1/4 tsp black pepper adjust to taste
- 1 sprig fresh thyme for garnish
Directions
1. Season the Pork Chops:
Pat pork chops dry and season generously with salt and pepper on both sides.
2. Sear the Pork Chops:
Heat 2 tbsp oil or butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Add pork chops and sear 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown.
Remove from skillet and set aside.
3. Cook the Apples and Onions:
In the same skillet, add the sliced apples and onions.
Cook 4–5 minutes until softened and lightly caramelized.
4. Create the Sauce:
Add apple cider, brown sugar, Dijon mustard (if using), cinnamon, and nutmeg.
Stir and bring to a gentle simmer.
5. Return Pork Chops to the Skillet:
Place the pork chops back into the pan, nestling them into the apples and onions.
Reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer 8–12 minutes, or until pork reaches your preferred doneness (145°F for juicy pork).
6. Serve:
Plate the pork chops and spoon the apples, onions, and sauce over top.
Garnish with fresh thyme if desired.
